Bergman: Whitmer's Propane Pipe Dream Will Leave Yoopers Out In The Cold

Today, the State of Michigan announced the "MI Propane Security Plan." This plan, coupled with Governor Whitmer's existing effort to shutdown pipeline 5 in May, will undoubtedly lead to higher propane prices, less energy reliability, and tax dollars being used to supplement inevitable propane cost increases. Rep. Bergman issued the following statement:

"The so-called plan by Governor Whitmer will undoubtedly leave Yoopers out in the cold and is incredibly tone deaf to the needs of our constituents. Just two weeks ago, the Governor had to issue an energy emergency across the state as extreme cold weather gripped the entire Midwest. Yet today, the plan put in place is to ‘send clear signals,' 'encourage,' and eventually 'secure alternative propane deliverability and sourcing options like pipelines, rail, and storage.' Michiganders can't heat their homes in winter with clear signals and encouragement.

"This isn't a plan - it's a pipedream and the people paying for it will be the hard-working men and women of Michigan's First District."
