|Veterans Affairs Committee
Serving on the House Committee on Veteran's Affairs is a passion of Congressman Bergman's. Michigan's 1st District has one of the highest percentage of Veterans of any district in the country. These veterans have sacrificed so much to serve their country, and he is dedicated to working on their behalf in Washington, D.C.
For years our Veterans have been mistreated by bureaucrats often times without any repercussions. The lack of oversight and accountability has led to many abuses of power, and under-performance for our Veterans. The Congressman is honored to have the opportunity to Chair the Sub-committee on Oversight and Investigation, and will always do my best to make sure that the care and treatment that our Veterans receive is second to none.
The Congressman is honored to serve as a freshman member on the House Budget Committee. Our country faces a vast fiscal crisis with over $20 trillion in national debt and out of control spending habits. The Budget Committee has been a standing committee in the U.S. House of Representatives since 1974 and leads the process for budget reconciliation. The reconciliation process enables the House and Senate to fast-track key reforms and will allow us to tackle major issues, such as tax reform.
As a successful small business owner and a retired Marine Lt. General, Congressman Bergman has been responsible for multi-million dollar budgets, and brings a unique and much needed approach to address our fiscal shortcomings.
|Natural Resources Committee
As a sportsman and outdoor enthusiast the Congressman is honored to serve on the Natural Resources Committee. He will work with his colleagues on the committee to ensure that northern Michigan's and the Upper Peninsula's natural resources remain at the forefront of the conversation. Congressman Bergman remains committed to preserving, protecting, and defending our Great Lakes, and our great land.
Conservation of the 1st District is of utmost importance to the Congressman; to ensure this beautiful land we are blessed to call home remains a place where our kids and grandkids can live, work, and play.
