Bergman Announces Ms. Reeve Katt of Lake Ann As The 2019 Congressional Art Competition Winner

Traverse City- Congressman Jack Bergman congratulates this year’s First District winner of the Congressional Art Competition. Reeve Katt of Benzie Central High School claimed first prize for her work "The Launch of the Steamer Frank J Hecker."

"I had the opportunity to call Reeve yesterday to congratulate her on winning this year's Art Competition. There were so many great pieces submitted, and I'm so proud of all the First District students who participated. Great Lakes shipping holds such a significant part in the history of the First District and Reeve's drawing does a great job capturing the prestige of this integral part of the Great Lakes supply chain," said Bergman.

Each spring, high school students from across the United States are invited to participate in the Congressional Art Competition through their respective congressional offices. Artists from the First District are called upon to judge the submissions. The winning selection will be displayed in the Cannon Tunnel to the U.S. Capitol for one year for Members of Congress, dignitaries, and the thousands of people who tour the Capitol each year to see.

The winner will be provided two free airline tickets to visit Washington, D.C., and view her painting in the Cannon Tunnel.
