Bergman Holds First Bipartisan Heroin and Opioid Task Force meeting

Washington - Congressman Jack Bergman participated in this year’s first Bipartisan Heroin and Opioid Task Force meeting along with health experts. Today's discussion was on developing a continued response to the opioid crisis for the 116th Congress. Following the meeting, Congressman Bergman issued the following release:

“I joined my colleagues today to review our legislative efforts from last Congress and chart a bipartisan path forward as we begin the 116th Congress. We also had experts from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the American Society of Addiction Medicine, and the Addiction Policy Forum weigh in on how we can work together to permanently end this epidemic. I will continue supporting legislation this Congress that prioritizes increased access to rural healthcare, telehealth initiatives, and the general health and welfare of First District constituents,” said Bergman.

Last year, Congressman Bergman supported numerous bills to combat the opioid epidemic and voted in favor of continued funding for the Comprehensive Addiction and Recovery Act.
