Bergman Applauds Successes, Outlines Work Ahead Following President Trump's State of the Union Address

After the State of the Union address by President Donald Trump, Rep. Jack Bergman released the following statement:

"This evening's State of the Union address highlighted many goals achieved over the course of the past two years. I applaud President Trump for his continued desire to deliver on  promises made to the American people. Reforming the way rural Veterans receive care they've earned, ensuring our military is properly funded, progress on building a new Soo Lock, creating an unprecedented atmosphere for job creation and economic success, and reforming our outdated tax code are just a few examples of the results accomplished since January of 2017.

"However, as has been extremely evident over the past few months, Washington is still broken. Tonight, the President called for a spirit of bipartisanship, and that’s what I plan to continue bringing to Congress on behalf of the First District. From border protection and trade policy, to expanding rural broadband connectivity and tackling the rising cost of healthcare - the challenges ahead of us are tall but the solutions to each issue are attainable so long as the State of our Union and the spirit of the American people remain strong."
