Yesterday in a Joint House and Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee hearing, Representative Jack Bergman addressed the need for disabled Veterans to receive the expedited and proper care they have earned. During his line of questioning, Rep. Bergman cited his legislation, the Veterans STAND Act, which would require the Department of Veterans Affairs to offer annual health evaluations of paralyzed Veterans, identify those who may be eligible for FDA-approved assistance devices such as powered exoskeletons under existing VA clinical guidance, and ensure those Veterans are actually able to receive such technologies.
Rep. Bergman underscored the importance of offering all safe options to our men and women who valiantly served our nation – whether they require treatment for a visible or invisible wound. In emphasizing a need to research and make available cutting-edge treatments for Veterans, Rep. Bergman stated, “We should not discount anything just because we don’t understand it. That’s how we get better: we seek to understand before trying to be understood.” Watch his full remarks here. |
