Bergman, President Trump Fight to Keep Michigan Safe

Today, Representative Jack Bergman wrote a letter to President Donald Trump, following the arrest of a member of the Venezuelan transnational criminal organization, Tren de Aragua, who illegally crossed into the United States near Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. In his note to the President, Rep. Bergman requested that the illegal alien be transferred to the Guantanamo Bay detention facility.

As Rep. Bergman explained, “detaining this dangerous individual at Guantanamo ensures secure confinement and prevents any attempts to exploit our legal system or endanger public safety while awaiting prosecution.”

Dear Mr. President,

I hope this letter finds you well. I want to begin by expressing my profound gratitude for your unwavering commitment to securing our Nation’s borders and prioritizing the safety of the American people. Your decisive actions to reverse the previous administration’s dangerous open-border, America-last policies have not only helped to restore law and order but have also reinforced our national sovereignty. Your leadership on this critical issue has made a clear and positive difference for communities across our country, including those in Northern Michigan and the Upper Peninsula.

I am writing to bring to your attention a deeply concerning development in my district. A member of the Venezuelan transnational criminal organization, Tren de Aragua, was recently apprehended after illegally crossing into the United States near Sault Ste. Marie, Michigan. As you are well aware, Tren de Aragua is notorious for its involvement in violent crime, human trafficking, and narcotics smuggling. The arrest of this dangerous individual highlights the grave and immediate threat that such criminal elements pose to the safety of Michigan residents and the broader American public.

In light of the clear and present risk this individual poses to our Nation, and in accordance with your administration’s strong stance on national security, I respectfully request that this member of Tren de Aragua be transferred to the Guantanamo Bay detention facility. Given the severity of the threat, detaining this dangerous individual at Guantanamo ensures secure confinement and prevents any attempts to exploit our legal system or endanger public safety while awaiting prosecution.

Once again, I commend your steadfast leadership in addressing the challenges posed by illegal immigration and transnational criminal organizations. Your actions have significantly enhanced the security of Michigan and our entire Nation. I look forward to continuing to work alongside you and your administration to uphold the safety and well-being of our citizens. Thank you for your attention to this urgent matter.
