Bergman: Harris-Biden Attack on Energy Pipelines Catastrophic for Midwest Families

Today, Representative Jack Bergman spoke in the House Budget Committee about the dangers of the Harris – Biden Administration’s attack on pipelines, such as the Keystone XL and Line 5 in Michigan’s First District.

Bergman noted that “Line 5’s closure would result in higher gas prices for the Midwest region, likely around 20 cents a gallon minimum.”

Up to 65% of the Upper Peninsula’s propane demand is supplied by Line 5, and over 55% of the entire state of Michigan’s propane demand is supplied by the pipeline.

Bergman later emphasized, “At a time when Americans can barely make ends meet, the Harris-Biden anti-pipeline agenda is absolutely devastating to families in Michigan’s First District. The Administration has waged war on producers and pipelines. If they got their way, over 65% of Yoopers would not have a proper propane supply this winter."

Those testifying outlined that a pipeline closure would not only have devastating effects on middle-class workers, but also have a direct impact on heating costs, fuel costs, and industrial jobs.
