Congressman Bergman Congratulates Congressional App Challenge Finalists

This week, Congressman Bergman (MI-01) offered his congratulations to the finalists of the Congressional App Challenge (CAC) for Michigan’s First District. The challenge prompts students to hone their coding skills in creating a unique and innovative app, applying their knowledge of computer science and STEM to create real-life technologies.

“It’s imperative that students are challenged to expand their horizons in computer science. The Congressional App Challenge involves students in today’s fast-paced world of advancing technologies and recognizes those contributing to that landscape with exemplary ability. Congratulations to our First District students and their families! We should all celebrate the accomplishments of Cedric Kanner, Niels Walker-Hundley, Walter Lijewski-Lee, and Simon Kemper,” Rep. Bergman stated.

The winners of the CAC for Michigan’s First District are as follows:

1st Place

Cedric Kanner - Traverse City, MI

2nd Place

Niels Walker-Hundley and Walter Lijewski-Lee - Traverse City, MI

3rd Place

Simon Kemper - Eben Junction, MI

The winning app is also eligible to be featured in the Capitol building, a lasting reminder of the importance of inspiring students to apply their skills for the good of their community and to help technologically advance our society as a whole.
