  • After the House passed the Building a Better America Budget, Congressman Jack Bergman released the following statement:
Posted in Press Releases on October 5, 2017 | Preview rr

Today, the House voted to pass the Building a Better America Budget, for FY2018. I ran on a platform of getting Washington’s spending under control and the government off the back of the hardworking people of Michigan’s First District. By balancing the budget, cutting spending, and opening the door for tax reform, this budget is key to getting Washington D.C. back in order. Without a change, our mandatory spending will overtake our entire national budget - leaving no room for important investmen... Read more

  • Congressman Bergman’s Statement on the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act
Posted in Press Releases on October 3, 2017 | Preview rr

Today, the House passed H.R. 36, the Pain Capable Unborn Child Protection Act. I was proud to co-sponsor this bill which prohibits abortions on unborn babies 20 weeks or older. Medical evidence has overwhelmingly proven that an unborn child can feel pain by at least this point in the womb. H.R.36 is a great step towards protecting the sanctity and value of every life. As a Marine, I have always worked to protect those who are unable to defend themselves, and as your Representative in Washington,... Read more

The events that unfolded last night in Las Vegas are sickening and tragic. Cindy and I send our most heartfelt thoughts and prayers to all who were injured and to all of the families who lost a loved one. The bravery of the first responders and law enforcement officers in Las Vegas should not go without notice. Thank you to those who remained calm and worked to save their fellow Americans among the chaos. Read more

  • Congressman Bergman’s Statement on Today’s Rollout of the Tax Reform Structure
Posted in Press Releases on September 27, 2017 | Preview rr

“It’s been over 30 years since our tax code has undergone comprehensive reform. We, the people, are overdue for tax relief. The framework laid out today by the Republican Congress and President Trump is a great first step towards achieving relevant tax reform. This proposal gives working individuals and families in Michigan’s First District a simpler tax code that allows them to keep more of their hard-earned paycheck, and provides small businesses the opportunity to create more jobs and grow a ... Posted in Press Releases on September 13, 2017 | Preview rr

“As a member of the Natural Resources Committee, I know the importance of conserving our federal lands, while ensuring proper and appropriate usage and access for all Americans. Defending sportsmen from burdensome federal regulations, protecting sportsmen’s 2nd Amendment rights, opening more federal land to hunting and fishing, and turning authority back over to the states are all integral parts of the SHARE Act, and I am pleased that the Natural Resources Committee voted to move this legislatio... “Today I voted in favor of H.R. 601. In addition to essential hurricane relief for our suffering communities, Congress now has more time to work together on a spending bill which includes the conservative principles President Trump and I were elected to preserve. I applaud my colleagues for coming together in a bipartisan manner to make the right decision for Michigan’s First District and for our nation.” Read more

  • Congressman Bergman's Statement on President Trump’s Decision to end DACA
Posted in Press Releases on September 6, 2017 | Preview rr

“The Constitution is clear; Congress has the authority to create legislation, not the executive branch. The Obama Administration exceeded its constitutional authority by unilaterally imposing DACA, and the Trump Administration is correct in asking Congress to address this issue. The United States can remain a welcoming nation without sacrificing our national security or the rule of law. The House and Senate must work together with the President in crafting solutions to address gaps in our immigr... Read more

“Access to healthcare is a challenge many of our rural Veterans face, and tele-health is an important tool in the effort to increase access for current and future Veterans. The VA has an opportunity to be ahead of the curve on tele-health delivery, and places like Michigan’s 1st District and New Hampshire’s 2nd District are examples of areas in real need for this technology and access.
