Meeting Time
Week in Review

Thank you for reading this edition of the Bergman Brief. This week I will primarily focus on the work being done in the District as we continue into the August work period. As I meet with constituents from Onaway to Michigamee -I’m so thankful for the input that each and every one of you offer.

The past few weeks I’ve met with constituents from all different walks of life – children who rely on the services of the school community health clinic, farmers fighting unfair trade practices of Turkey, manufacturers navigating the red tape of bureaucracies, retailers employing hundreds of area residents, and dozens of other constituents who agree or disagree with my viewpoints but still deserve to have their voice heard. We truly live in the greatest country on earth and I’m so proud to represent each of the constituents of the First District of Michigan.

As I’ve said before, if you are interested in setting up a meeting to talk about the issues that matter to you, please do not hesitate to reach out to my office at https://bergman.house.gov/forms/meetingrequest/

(Connecting Vets) - Bergman Introduces GI Planning Bill

"Military basic training is a grueling ordeal meant to mold our nation’s finest.  But it doesn’t make sense for these fatigued recruits to immediately be asked to make a consequential, expensive decision about using their future education benefits," Bergman said. "By delaying this decision six months, (the bill) will give enlistees the ability to make an informed choice and plan for the future."

  Meeting Time

As I travel the District over the August work period I have made it a priority to meet with constituents who may not see eye to eye with me on the issues, but are willing to work together to find solutions and common ground. I’ve met with folks in our offices in Traverse City and Marquette, at coffee houses throughout the District, and have even met multiple groups at their houses.

In every conversation there has been a meaningful dialogue, disagreements, but in the end - there has been much common ground found. I'm proud to represent the great people of the First District.
