Bergman Sworn in to 115th Congress

WASHINGTON – Congressman Jack Bergman (MI-1) issued the following statement today after being sworn in to the 115th Congress by Speaker Paul Ryan:

"It's an honor and a privilege for me to be here in Congress representing Michigan's First District. My job and Constitutional duty is to serve 'We the People,' and I intend to make that my first priority.

"Ahead of us is a new era in American politics--an era that can be defined by opportunity, industry, and prosperity. But it's up to us to do the work and put in the long hours it will take to get there.

"In the Marine Corps, a job well done means successful completion of the mission. As a Marine, I believe that my job in Congress is to get results that work for Michigan. This isn't about politics or empty promises. It's about people. That's the legacy I want for this country, and it's the legacy I want to leave for my children and eight grandchildren.

"Finally, I'd like to thank every man and woman in Michigan's First District for this opportunity to serve, and thanks always to my wife Cindy and to my children and grandchildren for their constant and unwavering support."
