Bergman Announces FEMA Window for Assistance to Firefighters Grant Applications

Today, Rep. Bergman announced that the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) window has opened for fire departments to submit applications for their Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant Program.

Over the past few weeks, Rep. Bergman has written and submitted many letters of support for the Assistance to Firefighters Grant applications filed by fire departments across the district – including Dafter Township, Hudson Township, Baraga Township, and Keweenaw Bay.

The application period for FEMA’s 2024 Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) Grant Program has opened and will close on April 12, 2024, at 5 p.m. ET., with $360 million available in grants directly to fire departments and volunteer firefighter interest organizations. The assistance will be extended to accepted applicants to help them increase or maintain the number of trained firefighters protecting communities across the Nation.

The FY 2023 SAFER Notice of Funding opportunity and technical assistance documents for this program are available at www.grants.gov and on the FEMA website. Additional information about upcoming webinars to assist applicants is also available on the FEMA website.
